Ingredients
Method
- Step 1 – Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C / 350°F. This ensures even baking and a golden top.
- Step 2 – Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and chop the apples into 1.5 cm cubes. Even pieces cook evenly and keep texture.
- Step 3 – Make the apple filling: Toss apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until coated. Spread evenly in a 1.5-litre baking dish.
- Step 4 – Mix the crumble topping: Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, melted butter, and salt. Mix until the texture resembles damp sand with clumps.
- Step 5 – Assemble and bake: Scatter crumble mixture evenly over apples, pressing lightly. Bake for 30–40 minutes until golden and bubbling at the edges.
- Step 6 – Rest before serving: Let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the filling to thicken.
- Step 7 – Serve and enjoy: Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, custard, or whipped cream.
Notes
Serving: Pair with ice cream, custard, or caramel sauce.
