- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper if desired.
- In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips with the butter, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Stir the eggs into the melted chocolate mixture one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour, sugar, and baking soda. Stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the remaining chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into brownies.
Notes
For the fudgiest brownies, avoid overbaking and allow them to cool fully before cutting. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
