Ingredients

Brownie Base
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips divided
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
Optional Add-Ins
  • ½ cup chopped nuts walnuts or pecans, optional

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper if desired.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips with the butter, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Stir the eggs into the melted chocolate mixture one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. Add the flour, sugar, and baking soda. Stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the remaining chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into brownies.

Notes

For the fudgiest brownies, avoid overbaking and allow them to cool fully before cutting. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
