  • 2 tsp fresh ginger grated or finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes adjust to taste
  • 125 ml water
  • 3 tbsp Sriracha
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce or all-purpose soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar or white sugar
Garnish (Optional)
  • to taste sesame seeds lightly toasted
  • to taste green onions thinly sliced
  • to taste fresh red chillies sliced

Method

  1. Step 1: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear prawns in batches for 45–60 seconds per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Reduce heat to medium. Add sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and chilli flakes. Sauté 30–45 seconds until aromatic.
  3. Step 3: Add water, Sriracha, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Simmer for 3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Step 4: Return prawns to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook 1–2 minutes until sauce clings and prawns are heated through.
  5. Step 5: Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and sliced chillies. Serve immediately with rice or noodles.

Notes

✔ Adjust spice by using more or less Sriracha and chilli flakes. ✔ Frozen prawns work well if thawed and dried. ✔ Add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas for extra nutrition. ✔ A splash of lime juice or rice vinegar adds brightness.
